Children are a Gift from God

As the children arrived at school last week, I was blessed to witness so many different reactions to the start of school.

Some students were nearly giddy with excitement while others appeared terrified.  Others seemed proud (along with their parents) and still many more seemed like it was just business as usual.

It amazes me how different children can be even within the same family, and yet I know that each one, along with his personality, is a gift given by God, himself.

Happy Easter

Although Easter is over and we’re all returning to our routines, I want to encourage us all to keep “The Spirit of Easter” alive as we labor.

“The Spirit of Easter”, although we love the chocolate and colored eggs, is primarily about the joy of knowing that Jesus is alive and not still dead in the tomb.

If Jesus isn’t alive then we have no hope for the future and all our efforts, no matter how good, are in vain.

Sacred vs. Secular

Many of us tend to divide our lives into sacred and secular categories.  For example, it's easy to think of our jobs as merely secular responsibilities and not necessarily sacred.

With this same kind of thinking, we tend to divide education into categories, too. In other words, some education is sacred and some is secular.  But if we use the Bible as our guide, it doesn't allow for this option with any activity we partake of.

1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God."
