Changed by God's Word
In the beginning, God spoke the world into existence and to this day he continues to “uphold the universe by the word of his power" (Hebrews 1:3).
In other words, God’s word is so powerful that when he speaks planets come into existence, birds fly, and humans breathe. In fact, the entire creation continues to exist because of God’s powerful word. These are awesome thoughts to think about.
The Bible is called God's word and it is powerful, too. It is powerful because when it speaks, lives are permanently changed, which is just as miraculous as a planet being formed. Paul speaking to Timothy said, “From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation” (2 Ti 3:15).
What could be more miraculous than a person receiving salvation? In a way that we can't completely understand, God's word changes us.
Doesn't it make sense, then, to have as much exposure to the word of God as possible? If we want our children to become more like Jesus shouldn’t we maximize the time they have with God’s word?
When I think about these questions, it makes me so thankful for a school in Grand Island where our children can hear and memorize God's word on a daily basis. Miracles are happening at our school as He uses his word to change hearts and lives.
In Isaiah 55:11 it says, "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
God’s word will accomplish in us what He wills. His word is powerful and we can trust Him to use it to make our children “wise for salvation.”
Aren’t you thankful your children go to a school where God’s word is taught?
